Application of chelating agent in oilfield chemistry

In the process of oilfield development, chelating agents play a crucial role by virtue of their functions such as scale inhibition, corrosion inhibition, and reduction of drilling fluid viscosity. A variety of chelating agents from Yuanlian Chemical have performed well in oilfield chemical applications, providing efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for oilfield production.

phosphorus-free degradable scale inhibitors

Iminodisuccinate tetrasodium (IDS) and glutamic acid diacetate tetrasodium (GLDA) can not only replace conventional chelating agents in platform cleaners, but also be used as scale inhibitors in extrusion processes when the oil field is relatively close to the seabed (such as the Caribbean). Polyaspartic acid (PASP) has excellent performance in oil drilling fluids with high hardness, high alkalinity, high pH value and high concentration. Sodium polyaspartic acid (PASP) has the characteristics of phosphorus-free and biodegradable. As a safe scale inhibitor, it can replace traditional phosphine-containing scale inhibitors in petroleum production and play an effective role in scale inhibition.

drilling fluid viscosity reducer

Drilling fluid viscosity reducer is mainly used to reduce the viscosity of drilling fluid and control the fluidity of drilling fluid. Polyaspartic acid (PASP), as a polymer viscosity reducer, has the characteristics of phosphorus-free, non-toxic and easily degradable. The molecular chain of polyaspartic acid (PASP) contains anionic groups COO, CO and NH. Therefore, PASP can not only be adsorbed on the positively charged end surface and negatively charged plane of the clay sheet by means of Coulomb force through anionic groups, but also NH can be adsorbed on the surface of the clay sheet through hydrogen bonds. PASP has a large adsorption amount on the surface of clay particles, which can better wrap clay particles and dismantle the structure formed between the clays, thereby reducing the viscosity of drilling fluid and has a good viscosity reduction effect. Since polyaspartic acid can reduce the viscosity of drilling fluid, the greater the amount added to the bentonite mud, the better the viscosity reduction effect, and it is an excellent viscosity reduction agent for oilfield drilling fluid.

Corrosion and scale inhibition of oil production pipelines

Polyaspartic acid can form chelates with calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, barium, strontium plasma, and adhere to the surface of metal containers to prevent metal corrosion. It is an excellent corrosion inhibitor, especially suitable for preventing corrosion caused by carbon dioxide in oil production pipelines.

Polysuccinimide (PSI) is resistant to high temperature and can be used as a scale inhibitor for dilute alkaline soil salts during oil production. Under alkaline conditions, polysuccinimide can slowly hydrolyze to polyaspartic acid. As a long-term release corrosion and scale inhibitor, it plays a "slow-release role" in the process of scale inhibition and descaling. The application of the chelating agent in the field of oilfield chemistry takes into account both high efficiency and environmental protection, and provides strong support for the stable production and sustainable development of oilfields.
